PURPLE I The Colour Series

psychology of colour

They say the imaginative dream in purple. Just kidding, no they don’t.

That being said, there are links that show that the colour PURPLE is great to get those creative + imaginative juices flowing.

In kindergarten, we’re taught that purple is the love child (okay, maybe not in those exact words) of red and blue. In a similar way, purple meshes the vibrance and passion of red with the calming feels of blue. Thus, making it a great colour to inspire your mind.
From a colour psychology perspective, shades of purple helps to relax and calm the mind. You feel more at ease.

I find that the best ideas come in the washroom/shower/when you’re about to fall asleep. In all those situations, you’re mind is very relaxed, therefore if purple does the same trick to your brain- you’ll *probably* be more creative.

Time to paint my room purple.

If you imagine a field filled with Lavender, it’s a pretty relaxing thought, and funny enough, the smell of Lavender actually has a relaxation property to it.

The colour purple represents a lot of things- royalty, wisdom, wealth, creativity, peace and spirituality. Individuals who love the colour purple are known to stand out- they want to be unique + different from the crowd, they’re generous, creative (lets combine those two- you’re generous in spreading your creativity) and rejoice in being a free spirit. They’re a scattered thinker- therefore are very careful to not over stretch themselves.

Everytime I see somebody wearing purple, or if i look at myself in purple, I have to admit – I do feel a wave of calmness and sweetness that comes with it.

How do you see purple?
