Brown I The COLOUR Series

otisamanthaWhen I think of the colour Brown, I think of coffee. Of chocolate. Of all things yummy.

Brown is not the most popular colour around- to most people, brown is often looked at as boring, dull and uninteresting

Brown is known to evoke feelings of safety and often described as a down to earth colour.

It’s an earthy colour which supresses emotion and gives reassurance. Brown is the opposite of many strong colours like red and prefers to lay in the background. Very much like green though, brown is the colour of nature and helps with balancing and comforting the soul. Great colour to destress with!

In Malaysia, brown reminds me of wooden houses or houses which lean towards a Balinese look- ‘wooden floors, wooden chairs etc’ that provide a certain warmth and depth to the decor. Lots of people find that adding a mini pond amongst the brown as very relaxing.

The psychological effects of the colour brown differs based on the colours that are paired with it – some pairings make you feel better than others. Picture green mixed with the brown palette and you have an overwhelming feeling of nature and peace. Use that same pairing but replace green with red and you have a stronger, more fast paced colour combo!

People who love brown are said to be more analytical, down to earth and considerate!

How does brown make YOU feel?
