Beauty I Makeup Special

Time for a Beauty Feature Special!!! Featuring Dermalogica and Essence Cosmetics

makeup

I have always been very cautious of what products I put on my face just because I’ve got sensitive skin. My skin falls on the dry side of the spectrum, with very little oil secretion which is great I suppose. Moisturizer it is! I’ve just recently tried a range of Dermalogica products and I have to say my favourite is the Face Scrub. Doesn’t smell the greatest (not going to lie) but I suppose that’d be best if it’s meant for sensitive skin.

Essence Cosmetics

Thanks to the team at Faulhaber Communications in Toronto, I have fallen in love with Essence Cosmetics. For those of you who don’t know, it is indeed sold in Vancouver (at Shoppers Drug Mart), but you can definitely find them online or if you’re making a trip to the east coast, you can find them there as well.

Nails

Okay, I need to talk to you about this range of nail polish! It just blows my mind. So there’s polish to create a 3D GEL LOOK (just like how your nails look when you get a manicure), SPARKLE POLISH (with mini confetti like sparkles that are layered on top of other colours- I don’t particularly fancy this because there’s too much nothing, and too little sparkle dust), COLOUR ENHANCING POLISH which you put prior to applying your nail colour- it’s supposed to enhance the shade of colour, and LONG LASTING COLOUR– which is supposed to dry fast and last for days on end.

Eye Shadow

My favourite shades of eye shadow IS

a. Blue (for day time)

b. Brown (for night)

Mascara

I am STILL trying to figure out which mascara works best for my eyes. I realized that the curled brushes usually work better and smudge less when I put them on in comparison to the ones that aren’t curled. At this moment, my favourites are the Maybelline Cat Eye ones and the Non-Clumps / Cat Eyes mascara from Essence.

Lipstick

I used to stick to very neutral colours when it came to lipstick. I would stick to light beige, pinkish shades that were matte. Not too glossy and didn’t have a lot of bold colours. It was only till 2 years ago where I really started to experiment with the shades of lips that I would don. The first colour I’ve tried on (out of my comfort zone) was a bold red, and that was only because I was part of a stage dance show and we needed bold makeup in order to not look ghostly on stage. And wallahh! My fascination with lipstick began! From then on, I tried shades like fuchsia, darker tones of purple, bright pinks, and absolutely love mixing different shades together. I usually like going with lighter tones in the day time and darker ones at night

My friend taught me a great trick as well. She said that on nights of very little sleep where eye bags seem to take up 3/4 of your face, always wear RED lipstick because it draws the attention away from the puffiness of your eyes! Lately, I’ve been fascinated to wanting to try the lip tint technique (that creates ombre lips) as well!

I’ve also out grown the lip gloss phase. This is because of several reasons- 1. It usually tastes gross

2. With Vancouver weather, the amount of times my hair gets caught in my gloss and then gets dragged across my face is too many to count.
